Week of May 7, 2018 - Happy Teacher Appreciation Week

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week
Thanks you team for everything that you do on a daily basis. I truly appreciate the work you do with the middle child of middle school. As you reflect on this year, please know that you have had a positive impact on many of our students. Some of the children that were very difficult at the beginning of the year have settled down and are more focused. Thank you for the extra efforts it took to make that happen. Our teachers are mentoring students, having math and ELA clinics and supporting our students in ways that go beyond paychecks. Thank you again.

Math and ELA Clinics
The math and ELA clinics were a success. Students reported that it really was a good last minute boost. We will be discussing how we can expand the clinics for next year please think of any input we may need. Thank you to the 7th grade team members that worked on this project.

Positive Behavior Plan
The positive behavior outing last Friday was a huge success. Students really enjoyed it. We will continue to use it for the rest of the year as an incentive for good behavior. Please continue to remind students of the rules they should follow to participate. Our goal is to improve student behavior and have the maximum participation possible. We will have three more dates.

Outdoor Lunch Resumes This Week
Students may eat in the courtyard again. Please resume the regular schedule. Remember to report to the cafeteria on time and do your duty on the assigned day.

Hallways and Passes
Here are some not so gentle reminders:
  • Keep the students in class. Limit hall passes to emergencies only.
  • If a student must leave, they must have a pass and sign out. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
  • Use the tardy log for late students. Everyone has one so no students should be sent to look for a pass.
  • There are a lot of students in the hallway at the end of the day. Do not allow students to hang out in the hallway. They must remain in class until second round is called.
  • Follow the 10/10 rule from now until the end of the year.

Planning For Next Year
We will continue to work on improving the grade level, we will be discussing the plan for next year during our grade level meeting. Please come with an open mind, suggestions for improvement and thoughts about the 2018-2019 school year. We will discuss the positives and the deltas and then use the information to plan for the upcoming academic year.
